Hello From Maribor!!!!!

Helllloooo from Slovenia!!!!!
I finally arrived!!!! After 3 frantic flights, 4 countries and an Olympic style airport sprint, I eventually arrived in the magicalllll city of Maribor where I will be based throughout the upcoming weeks working as artist in residence with the Guestroom Maribor programme at Pekarna Magdalenske Mreže...  I'm soooo excited to be here and it's been great to finally meet the lovely team who are running the project as well as my fellow artist in residence, Jérôme Souillot from France!!!

Since arriving I've mainly been checking out the city ready for the hardcore sewing to begin!!! I LOVE IT!!!It's super pretty with a glorioussss river and a cake shop about every 5 yards!!! We took a tour and got a chance to check out the gallery where we will be setting up studio and eventually exhibiting our work!!! So basically the past couple of days I have been getting to grips with the city, trying to read the complicated lingo and starting to prepare my projects....today we visited the old,  industrial area to check out an awesome textile factory which of course was followed with the best ever cake filled with rum punch!!! AMAZING!!! I've settled into a lovely apartment, the colour of a juicy tangerine, just a stones throw away from the town centre and I can't wait to see more of the city and get the chance to work with local creatives!

As I mentioned, Maribor is currently celebrating it's place as European Capital of Culture 2012, which means there are events, activities, exhibitions and allsorts going on constantly, so it's a perfect time to be here and see what's going on! Tonight we rounded off the day at the opening of the Jan Fabre exhibition at Umetnostna Galerija Maribor...

Slovenia Calling! New Artist Residency!!!

Zdravo!!!!!
Time to get the old backpack out!!! For some time I've been working in preparation for a new project I have coming up that I'm super duper excited about!!! Tomorrow I'm heading to Slovenia for the first time to get cracking on my new artist residency in the city of Maribor! I was recently awarded a residency and scholarship with the Guestroom Maribor programme at Pekarna Magdalenske Mreže Cultural Centre and as of tomorrow I will be beginning my projects in the city! My upcoming works propose to engage the fields of wearable arts meets fashion based around community interaction, cultural identity and craft heritage. Maribor is currently European Capital of Culture 2012 so I can't wait to get involved with all of the goings on and action....weeeeee too exciteddddd!
Looking forward to collaborating with creatives in the city (so if you are based in Maribor, drop me a line!!!) and also excited for gourmet swirly cakes and cheese dumplings!!!!!
So right now it's packing mayhem as I try to squeeze in all of my equipment and a stash of Earl Gray teabags whilst juggling dyeing my hair, polishing off a spot of work and fending off the wisdom tooth drama that has been plagueing the past few days!!! eeekkk!!!
Roll on tomorrow- labyrinthine journey from UK-via Germany-Via Austria and finally onto Slovenia to the wonders of Maribor!!!!! Yayyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

Clogs, Cheese and Dutch Adventures!!!!

Goedemiddag!!! (That's Good Afternoon in Dutch FYI....)
So last week I enjoyed a GLORIOUS trip to The Netherlands, post Easter egg indulgence.... I hit up Haarlem in the North of Holland for some clog hunting and Gouda eating!!! There were a few windmills in the mix, plenty of rosehip jam and of course a trip to Holland is never complete without crispy fries and homemade mayo!!!!

More Swedish TV,Kandee Shoes and Tumblr Time!!!

Oohhh Hiya!!!!
Just a couple of updates on this chilly day after this glorious 'heatwave'....
So my alltime favourite stylist of dreams, Alexis Knox, has been rocking out a selection of my robes on Swedish telly again.... She has been presenting for Mi Lajki's Style Factory and you can check out the episodes here on Nelly.com So be sure to take a little peep!!!

In other news you can also check out some of my stuff that was recently used in the Kandee Shoes campaign for their awesome S/S 2012 collection titled 'LOUD' styled by Alexis... Here's my quilted bubble skirt and sequinned jacket putting in an appearance alongside their juicy footwear! You can check out their stuff HERE!!!!

While I'm here I'll also mention the fact that I've been getting in on this Tumblr action....It's taken some getting grips to but now I totally love it.... I'm posting more general stuff on there so it's not as much work orientated as my blog as I'm posting all sorts of bits and bobs on there from stuff I like, travel things, fashion shizz, daily delights etc... so have a little peruse HERE!!!


Finally, before I get back to my sequins I wanted to put a shout out to any creatives based in Slovenia....I'm working on a really exciting project, more to come on that soon, but I'm on the lookout for people based mainly in the city of Maribor who are interested in collaboration....any photographers, make up artists etc, would love to hear from you so please drop me a line HERE!!!

Aurora Fashion Week Russia in Notion Issue 55!

Ooohhh Hiya!!!
Happppyyy New Year!!!!Ooooof...I've been totally off the radar over Christmas ....the world of nut roast and mince pies, prezzies and plenty of cheesy movies was simply too inviting!!!! Anywaysss....festivites over and away we go!!! Super excited for 2012 YEAHHHHHHHHHHH! So as I mentioned a few weeks ago on my blog, me and my chum, superstar magicalllllllll stylist supremo, Alexis Knox had packed our glittery bags and jetted off to beautiful St Petersberg thanks to a lovely invite from the team at 'Aurora Fashion Week Russia!' I've already given you the lowdown of what went on in an earlier rambling....but now you can read my full catwalk report in the brand new, issue 55 of Notion Magazine, complete with a 4 page feature, photos and gossip!!! So get yourself down to WH Smiths and all good newsagents and grab your very own glossy copy! Or.... you can read the online version HERE on pages 86-89!!!!
It was my first ever experience of visiting Russia and also of getting a peek into St. Petersberg's fashion scene....we were able to check out a load of great designers, a bunch of Fashionomica conferences, the accompanying tradeshow and side events....Whilst I'm on the subject, here are a few snaps from some of my favourite shows we hit up whilst in town.....

The 'Grazia Presents' showcase featured a string of emerging designers with a variety of looks covering plenty of plumage to nauticual influences mixed in with a bit of Grecian draping and black lace a-go-go.....

Here's a few from my personal highlights including Arngoldt, Bessarion and Sandra Straukaite......

'Kare' represented as 'Aurora Fashion Week Russia's' official interior partner with a fun installation complete with live models....and Minna Parikka showcased her awesome footwear and accessories in the programme's tradeshow!!!!

Cher Lloyd on 'The Xtra Factor'!!!

Oohh iya!
So I was SUPERRRRRR EXCITED when I spotted the AWESOME Cher Lloyd wearing my London skyline print dress on last night's live Final of ITV2's 'The Xtra Factor'! She looked DELUXE in it, gloriously styled by good old superstar stylist, Alexis Knox! She was chatting to hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack about this series' contestants and I'm mega happy that she wore it as it looked super hot!!!!!weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Obviously I got snap happy with the whole taking photos of a TV screen thing.....check it out!

'Secret Hideout' Editorial by 'Shoot The Model'!!!

Hello Hello!!!
Thought I would share a couple of images from a recent shoot titled 'Secret Hideout' by Vienna/Sao Paulo based international art project, 'Shoot the Model'. The project is the collaborative brainchild of David Tynnauer and Soraia Costa who work under the concept of 'Two continents, two languages, two cameras'. The duo, coming from backgrounds that include philosophy, theory of art, theatre science and performance art, together they produced these lovely images using some of my work during their recent project in London. LOVE this shoot!
