Real World Laboratory-MQ!!!

Salut!!!
I'm ill...I wish someone would bring me grapes....but I can only find grapes with seeds here in Vienna...and I don't like those as someone once told me the pips can cause appendicitis....
So anyway the other day we hit up the launch of Freiraum International
Quartier21's latest exhibition...."REAL WORLD LABORATORY"...It was complete with pretzels and chocolate muffins with flags in them...
So the exhibit...it is a conceptual showcase for experimental design and industrial production showing a marriage between two contrasting design attitudes. T
he works are brought from six central European countries; Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia and combine the disciplines of art and technology and beauty meets functionality.
Some of my favourite pieces....
SEE YOU is a piece produced by Ivanka -a Hungarian company. The
piece is a concrete tomb that holds water in the shape of a cross. The idea is that the water reflects the surrounding environment and aims to involve the living. So basically family members can hang out there and reflect and that it sustains itself through nature...so even if it is left with no visitors it grows all pretty and mossy!

Another favourite of mine was the work of Dejana Kabiljo titled PRETTYPRETTY- I loved this as I liked the humour that went with it....special barstools with hair...(and I saw hair.... so I thought of my little perruche...Le Mindu and how much I would like to drink some Earl Grey and make a dance video with him right now...JUMPSTYLEEEE)
The concept is that it stirs up an element of vanity over who has the hottest hair...the sitter or the stool...(the chair would totally win right now if I sat o
n it...as my roots are soooo bad!) and also generates feelings of nostalgia like...playing with dolls or getting a super bad haircut!
There you go...also I liked the muffins too....

Love and Hello Kitty,

"Emma Bell's Vault for Vauxhall"-The Aftermath!

Afternoon!!!
So finally I have a minute to write and tell you all about what went down on Monday...at the much anticipated "Emma Bell's Vault for Vauxhall" of which I was appointed as Creative Director of with Vauxhall Motors!!!6 weeks of super hard work and the result was most definitely worth it!
So where to start...after a couple of all nighters putting the finishing touches of glitter on props....chasing up the finer details....We were up bright and early at 5am to load all of the goodies into a van (that strangely smelled of beef...gross) driven by a dude called Paulo...
Me and superstar production manager and creative mastermind, Alexis Knox, rocked up to the Vaults at London Bridge with our amazing team (thanks Rosie, Russell, Emma, Eleni,Katie, Lucy, Natasha, Will, Adam...sorry if I forgot anyone!) and prepared for the arrival of candyfloss machines, hot dog man, mystical forests....
The venue is HUGE....400 metres long...with 25 individual vaults!

One of my favourite parts of the day was seeing Will rock his special tree costume...I've never witnessed such a corker of a robe in my life....

So the doors then cracked open to the world of dreams....taken through a darkened maze lit with UV with the spooky sounds of Mario Brothers haunted castle....woooo spooky....I especially had a cheap laugh as I heard people's screams echo down the corridor!
Then the party times began....cupcakes, Lambrini, stilt walkers, candyfloss, hot dogs, a coconut shy and funfair games....hair-do's from a car from the AMAZING Charlie Le Mindu....a corker of a performance from the one and only Scottee....Scottee rocked a beaut of a spangly outfit by Lee Benjamin as he flounced in his ball pool amongst glitter and tinsel....

And now some tropical beats for you to throw some shapes at....
We had celebrity guest DJs in the form of Jodie Harsh, Ebony Bones and Frankmusik....YES PLEASE....

Then came a second chance to see my SS09 collection, as seen on the catwalk at London Fashion Week.....With super special make-up from artist Melissa Lee...hair by Charlie Le Mindu and my amazing models....the clothes trotted their way down a pink glitter catwalk peppered with specially Emma Bell commissioned cars!

This was one of the most exciting and challenging projects that I have ever worked on and I am so happy that it was such a great success!Check out some cheeky snaps......

And of course the extra special Vauxhall cars!!!!

oooh yes...and for your viewing entertainment....what went down after the doors had closed......

Love and Vauxhall Party Times!!

What went down...on the eve of Fashion Week!

Can I get a rewinddddddddd..........
ok so, what really went down as we pulled a corker of an all-nighter the evening before my show at London Fashion Week.....
Let me show you....

As we finished sewing, put the final touches of glitter on Dr Martens, Katie frantically was still knitting...we also enjoyed a midnight pizza feast, some whisky....and even set up hair salon in my studio alongside a disco!!!
Myself and Alexis were distraught at the fact we may not have had our hair done in preparation for D-Day...so at around 3am..Charlie Le mindu popped round with his bag of magic and whipped us up special hair-do's for the occasion....Imagine, cold water, a kitchen sink and a stinky tea towel....corker indeed!!Alexis also decided now was the time to throw out her favourite French "Tectonic" dance moves complete with a head full of bleach!!! Entertain yourself with the video above....eekers!

It was all fun and games I tell you...with a lot of stress thrown in for good measure!

Mel puts the finishing crystals on! Jackee and a magical midnight feast!

Katie drops the knitting needles! Finishing touches to the footwear!

Yep...so there you have it!!Fun, frolics and heart attacks in the studio of dreams!!!

Love and PIZZA TIMES!

LONDON FASHION WEEK SS09

jEEEEEEEEEEEEZ!!!

errrmmm I don't know where to even start...the past 7 months since my last show have been super hardcore in the preparation of last Friday 19th September...even from last December when I found myself trekking around the Far East scribbling in journals and sketchbooks and sourcing the perfect fabrics in the weirdest markets ever.....BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!From the design, to sourcing, to pattern cutting, to making....to spending months knitting and bejewelling, to juggling special freelance projects.....it's been incredibly intense!

And finally on Friday my new collection was unleashed!!!

As my SS09 collection was unveiled on the catwalk of London Fashion Week at Vauxhall Fashion Scout....we saw an amazing presence from my ULTRA ULTRA SPECIAL creative director and stylist Miss Alexis Knox....http://www.alexisknox.com/....as well as INCREDIBLE phantasmagorical hair directed by the AMAZING superstar stylist Charlie Le Mindu...http://www.charlielemindu.com/....FANTASTIC accessories from Keko Hainswheeler...http://www.kekohainswheeler.com/.....JUICY make-up by Rachael Wood and SPARKLETABULOUS jewelled masks by Melissa Lee!!!!

Not even to mention the BUBBLY PINK CHERRY LAMBRINI from my AMAZING sponsors LAMBRINI!!!http://www.dothelambrini.co.uk/....and of course INCREDIBLE graphics depicting a feast of jelly beans....sick clowns....buffets galore by Hidden Agency!!!http://www.blogger.com/www.hidden-agency.com!!!!AND NOT FORGETTING THE UNLEASHMENT OF MY MAGICAL OPENING FILM BY JAMES BATLEY...http://www.jamesmakesvideos.com/.....

A brief bit of spiel about my latest collection for SS09.....it was inspired by weird twisted fairytales involving magic tablecloths and bizarre entities living in glitter encrusted shacks courtesy of a food-stained skanky book I found in Oxfam for £2.....all you can eat buffets where you can gorge yourself.....Russian folklore involving arrogant, cheating, super hot princes with curly moustaches, French Revolution style decadent dinner parties on a mystical planet at the other side of the galaxy.....

Ok now for some special thanks.....now there are A LOT of people who have helped me soooo much and it would not have been possible to do this without them....

I would firstly like to thank MY AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING first assistant Katie Mudford...who has spent months knitting with me as well as well as EVERYTHING else including entertaining gossip sessions....trips to the co-op...getting shat on by birds who had been eating blackberries......burning the midnight oil...tra la la la......THANKS KATIE!!!!

Rosie centre and OH!who are these 2 "hunky" specimens?!It's Richard Kellett and Thomas Sels!

Howdy Trotting Ponies!!!!
Wednesday night saw a charity fundraising bash thrown by the lovely Rosie! The event was held at 'Ande de Bridge' in Shoreditch to raise dosh for http://www.bottletop.org/; an Aids awareness foundation that raises money through fashion and music to provide education in areas including South America, India, Africa and the UK...
Bottletop bags are made by various co-operatives worldwide that benefit from the proceeds....even PARIS HILTON has one...as seen on the Bottletop website!
....so, whack out your credit card and make a purchase! Super hot brand, Fenchurch, have even got involved and churned out a range of ethical accessories and t-shirts!

The event was an all involved fundraiser meets fashion networking extravaganza with a silent auction....one-off vintage Levi's, portraits of Snoop Dog by Blaize Simon and a phantasmagorical Charlie Le Mindu haircut were all up for grabs!
Niyi churned out some tunes on the decks and models were strutting around wearing Emma Bell.....all in the name of a really good cause!!!To get more info you can go to www.bottletop.org....or if you are feeling generous and would like to crack out a donation...go to www.charitiestrust.org/charities/Bottletop/index.html
